Finally got one!!!

11 posts in this topic

Finally got a deer tonite. Got in the stand about 3:30 and by 3:45 i was done. I have spent numerous days on stand this year and have not seen alot of deer. Could have taken a doe ealy in the season but wanted to hunt the rut in pursuit of a buck. Well no buck during the rut and seen very few deer. tonite 2 does came in and gave me a 7 yard shot. deer was facing me and starting to get nervous so i took the shot. went in neck and out intestines. Deer went 75 yards and piled up. Very easy tracking in the fresh snow. Deer ran to the open field towards my truck. No dragging and clean kill. FINALLY Nice big doe smile.gifsmile.gif

Way to stick with it! I have to admit I have been gearing more toward ice fishing because of the cold temps. Way to go!

Hello guys I'm new to this site and sorta new to the area. We do not yet have a boat so the family is trying to find some decent shoreline fishing in the area. Has anyone heard any shoreline reports?

Saturday found the panfish deep in the morning, not a fish on the shoreline to be found. By late afternoon the shorlines were packed with panfish.  Crappies just now are actually on beds.   Bluegills are have not yet started to fan nests.  The big seriously fat females are thick shallow, only a few bulls hanging around at this point.   This is for the area near Walker/Hackensack.
