I would have except my bud bailed on me.

Too much snow I'm thinking.

I got 40 jigs done today ,so it was not a complete loss.

Plus the Vikes whooped up on the Lions pretty good.

I made the mistake of draggin my portable a 1/4 mile on Saturday. It went out easy, but after 9" of snow it took me about 3 hours to drag it back. I am hurting today. I caught a few small northerns, but it was just nice to get out. I was glad I split so much wood for the shack when I rolled in last night. It was pretty chilly.

Hey CK remember when I told you about hitting a nice buck early with the bow. Check out the archery forum under "the one I thought got away". Talk about killer letdown.

Good luck out there on the ice this year. I'll probably run into you or hook up sometime this winter.

Yes the Navonics phone app is as accurate as more expensive ones and you don't need to spend the extra $$ on another unit!  The app costs under $10!!

Hopefully things will start to happen soon.  The next 15 days of overnight lows are starting to stay below freezing. Maybe a few test holes will have to happen for me next week!!

So, what was YOUR ice show score of the day!? I'm heading down on Sunday to see what scraps I can dig up. Absolutely more excited than I should be considering the only ice I've seen so far is the kind that fits in a glass..

Seeing it's only your second year find buddy to go with as rock said. I even bring a second set of dry clothes and footwear. I am to big mess with thin ice I need 6 inches as rick said early varies so much so some where there is half as much ice.    Safety gear check include ice cleats as i have seen enough broken arms happen. Check your gear test the vexilar hook it up and turn it on to see if it runs or just hook up the charger. I use the drill plate so I charge all my batteries and with blade protecter on I make sure it works. My little sled is ready to haul my gear.    I go light during early ice so fill so fill up my plactics container and restock my jig boxes. Make sure my set ups have new line and pick my favorite set ups to take with. I can add some photos later

Looks like we might have walkable ice in 2 weeks
