Arctic Armor

7 posts in this topic

How is this stuff? I know WalleyeDan will have good things to say, but since he sells it I would like to hear from a consumer, and Dan you too! Is it warm? How is it to fish in as far as durability and comfort? How does it compare to Ice Armor? Thanks in advance for the feedback!!

I got mine last year and am very happy I did. Very warm with minimal base layer, really light and comfortable. One of the best purchases I have made in a long time, you won't be dissappointed!

I have it, and got it from Dan. All I can say without sounding like a broken record is that it is GREAT! Thinner than I thought, warmer than I thought, usable all year round except the hot part of summer, and very comfy. Well worth the price tag. If you hunt, get the camo. I got red and I like it, but they didn't have camo when I got mine.

Do a search for my name or just Arctic Armor and you will find lots of people who are simply customers who are very pleased. I haven't heard anything bad so far about it, maybe a few with zipper issues, but they got worked out. My zipper is fine. I only wish the leg szippers went a bit higher than they do, which is the standard height.

You won't be sorry. I even bundle my Dad up in mine in the spring fishign trip and he stays toasty for an old "freeze-baby" in his older age. Heck I was wearing mine fishing right into June, but it also stays warm in -10 and beyond.

Enough of a soapbox, but I love the stuff, more now so than when I bought it last year.

Has anyone had a bad experience? I have not heard of one yet. Looks like I am going to have to pay Mr. Dan a visit. Where is your new shop at WalleyeDan??

Otis,

We are located just west of the county road 77 and highway 371 intersection in Nisswa. If you are heading towards Grand View Lodge our shop is on your right hand side before you hit the long stretch of woods, can't really miss it. Call me before you stop, we have been on the fly.

Dan,

Is there going to be duck blind camo gloves in the near future?

I wondered if I had stepped thru a time warp and  was back in 1997............really fun day today about 5.5 miles off the south shore. LOTS of action and some nice fish. Two overs and 2 nice keepers at 17" with 6 very nice saugers to fill the bucket, plus 1 sumo perch. Quite a few littles but the action from 10 to 2:30 was much like it used to be. Also several tullibees and they were the biggest I've seen here in a while. Zero fish jigging but glow pink Geminis and glow red Northland forage things were working very well. Wow, is that snow hard.......if it rains at all on Saturday, the snowpack will be like cement.   Good luck.

Fished Pike Bay this afternoon and did ok, caught 3 walters and a ton of perch that we sorted through, ended up with a half a dozen solid keepers. Didn't move, set up in 19' and stayed there all day. Lots of folks out there tonight enjoying this beautiful weather.

The real problem with jerky is it just does not last long? I try to store it to make it last longer and the next thing I know it's gone!  Who's eating it! My wife doesn't like it and I'm the only other one home.  Aliens or Big Foot?

I agree with Rick.    I would not venture to any of the lakes with a current with a wheeler without knowing how the ice forms in these areas.   koetter, zumwalles, and Krays especially.   Plus the bridges or channels that connect them are usually not passable.      I have made it to the 2 cat holes in koetter but the entrance from cedar island is very dangerous.   You can get there from the winter access on cedar island.  about a 2-3 mile drive by wheeler.  (do not go near the bridge at the end of koetter   Don
