Is Pine Point Resort still open?

3 posts in this topic

I heard that this resort was closed. Is this true? If so, where else is there lake access in this area?

Thanks in advance. CnE

I heard it has been sold. I don't know the current status or future plans. Last winter we were able to use it as access. I don't know about this winter.

Other accesses will require more travel and may be hampered by ice heaves or other ice conditions. The closest launch would be Oak Point on the North Shore at Walker Narrows, but it's a fairly long drive to get to the North Shore (North of Walker). Depending on ice conditions, Stony Point Public landing to Grand Vu flats is about 4 miles. Public access in Walker at Sand Point is a 5 mile trip out to Grand Vu.

Two resorts on Pine Point are Bailey's and Anderson's Grand Vu. I don't know their policies, but they may allow lake access from their resorts. If they do, expect to pay a fee.

The Pine Point Resort access that was used last year is closed. I accessed out of Grand Vu Lodge for $5. The fishing was slow for us this weekend.

The Bay is so different from the Lake.  The heavy breeze is keeping the lake open.  Things calm down Fri to Sun that will most likely freeze the lake over.  Then we get strong winds again on Mon to Wed that could likely blow it open again.  You may be able to fish the bay, but I am doubting the lake.  JMHO.  I can wait, but I am getting the itch.

I have a 2015 21' Ice Castle RV that has two house batteries. I added the second to the house. It will run the furnace fan all night but it is running a lot slower by morning. There is a noticeable increase in fan speed when I start the generator in the morning. I am thinking of adding a third battery to the house to make up the difference.

Any area ice reports? I'm hearing that most of the smaller bodies of water in the area have now frozen over. Should make it out sometime this weekend to try my luck . Good luck, and please stay safe
