Mildew on Wall Tent?

3 posts in this topic

I have recently aquired a couple of my grandfathers old canvas wall tents...they were stored in a basement that had some moisture problems and are really musty and fairly nasty looking...they are nearly new tents and I would like to use them...How do I clean them?

I just went through this with a boat tarp.I tried every recommendation I got! in the end I finally used bleach mix bout 3 to 1 It worked best but the mildew stains never came all out. Also canvas water repels by the fibers gettin wet and swelling so no treatment is needed,But if ya want to treat it use it a couple times and if no rain then sprinkle it with hose a couple times let it completly dry between wetting and after then WaterSreal in spray cans for frabic works.Cabelas has some treatment also but I went WaterSeal.

With bleach mix I also scrubed with a stiff bristle brush LOTS A SCRUBIN!

Try scrubbing with Borax before you use the bleach.

Yes the Navonics phone app is as accurate as more expensive ones and you don't need to spend the extra $$ on another unit!  The app costs under $10!!

Hopefully things will start to happen soon.  The next 15 days of overnight lows are starting to stay below freezing. Maybe a few test holes will have to happen for me next week!!

So, what was YOUR ice show score of the day!? I'm heading down on Sunday to see what scraps I can dig up. Absolutely more excited than I should be considering the only ice I've seen so far is the kind that fits in a glass..

Seeing it's only your second year find buddy to go with as rock said. I even bring a second set of dry clothes and footwear. I am to big mess with thin ice I need 6 inches as rick said early varies so much so some where there is half as much ice.    Safety gear check include ice cleats as i have seen enough broken arms happen. Check your gear test the vexilar hook it up and turn it on to see if it runs or just hook up the charger. I use the drill plate so I charge all my batteries and with blade protecter on I make sure it works. My little sled is ready to haul my gear.    I go light during early ice so fill so fill up my plactics container and restock my jig boxes. Make sure my set ups have new line and pick my favorite set ups to take with. I can add some photos later
