Mornin' Deb. This year will be my 4th BB in a row... Believe me no matter how hard you fish the Bash you will go home with reason to come back!!!

Beauty of the lake alone... Not to mention...

I havent bashed since last year at this time for a year & haven't fished with Tom for a winter & A Summer... At that time you kept Psfister on the table after we all Lost $$ to Pout Slayer in his ability to dry run the $1k trailer he won.... Plus big fish...

Remember that contest Kent, Randy, Wally & the rest of us at HiBanks???

Sweet Boy Scout tourney. Many FMers turned up to Turn the Prize augers over. Tom was there takin' all the engines apart to Smog'em up after breakfast.

Later I was suprised at the many friendly pitchers taken around the pool table time tavern with Deb, Yourself, Myself, Frank, Steve, ( all of us ) Kent, I'llTakeWhatICanGet & thanks to Tim etc... As Deb kicked our can . Raffle tikets were shiney that day & we toasted

for Slayer!

Lookin' forward to my 4th bash this year!!!

Sometime Chunky will drop me off & stay there for an hour to help me fish... Last year I thought 31 feet was way too close to the Ice edge by your Du nord Spot...

This House has 8 holes with Rattle Reels and features “onboard power” 2 Queen Bunks, 2 Twin Bunks, Oven with Range, Microwave, Indoor Bathroom, TV/DVD Player, Underwater Cam, Fireplace, Ceiling Fan, and so much more.

A huge thanks to Paul and Appeldoorn's Sunset Bay Resort.

Way to step it up and set the bar Paul! Man is that a awesome donation! I would love to spend a couple nights in that bad boy.

Hopefully a few more sponsors will see this and step up and donate to this great function.

Thanks again Paul and Appeldoorns Sunset Bay for such a cool donation!

I picked up a $100 dollar gift certificate from GM that i was supposed to give to my father for xmas. Well, the wife and i got signals crossed and she picked one up too for him not knowing i done it first. i was going to use it for myself but if you all think you could possibly use it as a prize i would like to donate it for your bash?

Has anybody scoped out anything Metro wise? I was thinking of stopping by Thorne Bros. as they have customers coming to your area. I don't have the connections I used to, but I'll ask around.

Need some spools of raffle tix? I can pick up a few.

P.S. I don't spose Appledorn's would display that house at Bside do ya?! I'll fish wherever they drop it.

Wanderer bring the tickets we may need them. End of the line you still got last years?

If you can work some donations thats great.

Tracy, a couple of the admins will be talking to whichever FM sponsors they think might be willing to help out, and Thorne Bros. and Appledorn's are FM sponsors/advertisers.

If you have any contact with more local bait/tackle stores, or frankly anyone that has items to donate that might interest outdoorsmen/women, cut loose and talk to them if the are not FM sponsors. All FM sponsors are listed in my sig under a hotlink.

On a side note, Wanderer, thanks again for the info you gave me on that other matter. grin.gifgrin.gif

As for the tickets, we will not be having a formal raffle, though we will be doing free-donation drawings. If your tickets are duplicate tickets (one to go in the hat, one to go to the contestant), we'll be happy to have them, but will need to make sure we can depend on getting them on Bash morning. Shoot me an e-mail about that. You already have my address. grin.gif

Unfortunately I can't make it to the bash, but will be happy to send up a donation from Mr & Mrs Leaky.

This is the first I have read about Deb. We'll be thinking of you & your family down here over Thanksgiving.

Yep, I plan to be there for laker opener and the Bash. I was going to hit you with an email about that anyway. Don't know if I'll be able to get there any sooner though. Smokepole season and all. wink.gif

I think the stick you're talking about is roughly 50 bucks. If you want it cheaper you'll have to get some tickets like me! I looked at em this spring...Shwweeeet!

Things are good. Glad to see the way this year's Bash is shaping up. I'm looking forward to witnessing the Fishmaster's prowess. grin.gif I'll call or email you on when I can get there.

Things must be looking up for you this time of year, eh?

Didn't want to get lost in the thread, but just wanted you to know Tom that Nate and I will be there again this year. He is very excited to say the least. Hopefully we can spend a little time fishing together, but we know how busy you will be. Just let me know if you want help the day of the Bash doing or setting anything up to make it work for you. Man it is sad that the last couple bash's i havent made it. I will definitly be up there to be a part of something like this. I am extremely happy to see what positives can come of these great people in bad situations. I was in chunky's house when the floor fell through at the first bash, and i even caught my first laker (9 lbs) at that get together. I am proud to see that these people come together to support each other in times of need. I have watched these threads silent for a while now and i have to say that im glad that there are people out there like you guys to make this happen!

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?
    • LakeofthewoodsMN
On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭
    • Rick G
Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
