3B all season license

If I am reading the regulations correct, I cant hunt the 3B firearms season with an all-season license? Thats the only reason I bought the all-season is so I could hunt up north and then come down and hunt the 3B season. Anyone know the reason behind this?

I think you can hunt 3A though. I like the fact that they do not allow 3B with all state. No offense, but there would be a swarm of hunters down there during 3B and I think that is why it is that way.

Yah bnut the dang 3b over laps the first weekend of muzzle loader so I can't go down there that stinks the dnr sure looks out for some people don't it?

Look at the map if you are in area 601 you can hunt until the 25th of nov in 3b

As far as I know you can still hunt with your bow but from talking to the CO down there last year you better leave your gun at home unless you feel like donating it. When we talked with him last year around noon opening morning he already had 3 new guns and they weren't cheap ones

Can we hunt the opening weekend of muzzleloader in 3b? We would be hunting the Muzzleloader season, not season 3b technically wouldn't we.

Yes you can; however, you have to abide by the muzzleloader season rules. That means no scope on your muzzleloader and for sure don't carry a shotgun!

As i understand it when you buy your all season license you have too declare whether or not you want too hunt the 3A or 3B season with it. So in fact you can hunt the 3B season with that license if you declare so, but then you can't hunt the 3A.

I have hunted 3b for many years, and it kinda sticks that you cant hunt muzzleloader is your hunting 3b. So we might be changing over to 3a and then this way we can hunt muzzle.

But man, there is a ton of deer every year. Its great.

1) you CANNOT hunt 3B with a "rifle" the legal firearm is shotgun with single slug shotgun shell, legal smokepoles, or legal handguns.

2)you can hunt with smokepole any firearms zone with a scope. but. scope is NOT allowed during the muzzleloader season without a permit.

3)crossbows are legal during the firearms season with a firearms license but not with an archery license.

One reason makes sense why you can't hunt 3b because it does overlap with the opening of muzzleloader. I would be out there with a scope on my muzzleloader opening weekend and saying I was hunting 3b, not muzzleloader.

I know not everyone hunts the muzzleloader who bought an all state license.

with a all season lic. u can hunt 3A but not 3B till after the compeletion of firearms. nov 26th u can enter the area for muzzleloader season, i bagged a 200 lb doe in zone 4 this morning at 645 am.

You can hunt muzzleloader opening day in 3b. I emailed the dnr yesterday and that is what they said.

Well i am totally confused. I was told before i got my all season that after the laws had been printed that the DNR had changed the law in an effort too get more hunters into the 3B season. When i got my license they asked me if i wanted my license good too hunt the 3A or 3B season. And now here everyone is saying that this isnt the way it is. I think i'll call the DNR and get an explanation.

We have hunted for years in 3b. I don't believe that the dnr wants more hunters in the 3b season. Everyone would come down. We hunt zone 342. And this year it switched from a 5 deer limit to 2. That would not make any sense. If they wanted more deer killed, they wouldn't have decreased the limit. I don't know it's so confusing. I have never understood why we don't just have one season down there. If I made the laws, I would have one season just like up north. Opening the first weekend in November.

My group has been muzzleload hunting in Zone 3 for 16 years now and 3A Slug. Muzzleloader always opens the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It does overlap with the 3B slug season for One day if I remember correctly. The DNR is out there checking for scopes and other infractions, but you are allowed to hunt within the muzzleloading guidelines. We traditionally take upwards of 30+ deer in a day and a half. There are plenty of deer down in SE MN.

It is amazing down there, if you have the right spot. I seen 26 deer this weekend. I didn't fire one shot though, I was looking for a buck over six.

The DNR wants more hunters too choose the 3B rather than 3A. That is one of the reasons why there is a second weekend on the 3B season now rather than 3A, a bit of incentive too hunt the 3B, more time in the woods. They do want more deer harvested. Zone 3 still has the most liberal "bag limits" in the state in reguards too deer.

Every year we take about 50 deer with 16 guys on muzzleloader opener. It makes for some impressive pictures. We really only shoot does during Muzzleloader unless the buck will score 140+ it gets a free pass this time of the year. Our record is 22 deer down in the first 2 hours.

we hunt the 3b also, and man we see alot of deer, but this year is a bit different, we are not seeing alot of deer like we have in the past.

My uncle and i have always shot muzzys during this season. But when we are driving woods, we will shoot the shot gun.

There is alot of deer around this area.

We have access to about 5,000 acres of land in the South East MN (sorry, not going to tell what town) for muzzleloader. Most is private. We hunt some of the apple orchards and do it to help the owners reduce the destruction of their trees. Some even get permits to shoot during the summer. One guy that has 90 acres shot 39 does this summer on his property alone. He donates all the meat. He got the permit because he was having less than 20% yield from his corn and beans due to deer. You should see some of the deer that we shoot. 200+ lbs does are common, 140+ inch bucks are the minimum for the group and any buck that is not outside the ears or is at least 4 years of age faces a group imposed fine where the money goes into food plots. We could shoot a lot more, but who wants to gut and drag more than that. I actually change my location so I can get a 4 wheeler to the deer I shoot. I had to pass a nice 10 pointer this year because he was no older than 3 1/2 years old. Muzzleloader is more killing than hunting for us. We "hunt" bow and slug season and pass on hundreds of deer for a chance at that monster.

The biggest suggestion and success we have found is knock on some doors, ask if they need any help managing their heard/property. We don't go out to shoot their trophy bucks. Many of our properties we agree to hunt does only. Let me tell you, when you can't shoot bucks, you see the biggest ones of your life. I saw a 190 class buck and couldn't do anything about it. After a few years you get to know these landowners and your privileges can change.

Holy crap, 39 does in a summer. I would guess he might have been a tad sick of shooting them. If he's like me it wouldn't last long, but many that's a lot of deer. We don't have that kind of population where we hunt. There's plenty of deer, but nothing like that.
