Auger blade sharpening

2 posts in this topic

Does anyone know if there is someone in the St. Paul area that sharpens auger blades? I just looked at the Strikemaster website and their getting pretty spendy for an exchange nowdays.

Two things to try, 1st your local bait shop. If they get anything from Ken's Bait Service in Shokapee, they have an exchange program for resharpened blades. Ken's has someone do it for them, but Ken's as far as I know is a wholesaler only, I could be wrong though. 2nd, find a place that sharpens saw blades, knives, scissors, stuff like that and they can probably do it for you. The Lazer blades are expensive no mater where you go due to the pitch and twist of the blade. The ripper blades you can do yourself with a bench vise and a good flat file.

Grubens did permits the 2016 season. Fortune bay stopped writing BWCA permits the end of the 2015 season. Sally retired and that ended the permits at the bay.  Some day we will be able to buy permits on line and print them.

The video shown in the link posted above shows most of the fish they're handling going back because they're not ready or too green. The video was from 4/14 so I would bet they are done as that was 1 1/2 weeks ago. Cutfoot was done in less than a week. Cliff will be able to tell you for sure when then finished but I'd guess they were done by the end of last week.

I took the boat out for a test run last weekend to a quiet little lake. Water temp was 54. This weather isn't going to help with the water temps.
