Protected Slot

I see that the Red Lake Nation has adjusted the lower end of their protected slot size up to 20 inches. Understandable since it's getting more difficult to take 'em at less than 17". Is the DNR also looking at doing something like this?

I think it would be a good idea. For those who are out fishing for there limit, they will get them alot sooner, and will have a less of a chance of needing to catch 100 fish to keep 4, then not injuring alot more!

The limit reverts back to 2 on Dec. 1st I believe.

Good Luck!

I knew that! But the same thing applies, if I was there to catch my limit, and I could catch it with only catch and releasing 5 fish, to catch my 2. Instead of having to catch 50 walleyes to catch my 2, I think more fish would live.

But I could see the down sides of it also, it would bring in alot more people, but I am sure the resorts up there dont want that, right grin.gif . And I know it wont effect the people who just keep fishing.

Quite abit of new tackle, along with some different plastics options this year. Some of the new products have proven itself on soft water while doing some recon during the past few weeks, fishing first ice spots. Fine tuning "spots on the spot" can pay off big time, before fish become spooky from noise of crowds, which more times then not, makes them less willing to bite, and can make them move to other key locations nearby.
