Silver Lake Crappies

2 posts in this topic

Have been going to Silver Lake a few times lately, and having decent luck. The best spot so far has been under the 7th street bridge; it seems like they are using the bridge supports as current breaks. Any small lures with some action such as paddletails, mini-mites, roostertails, cicadas, tubes, beetle spins, and tiny crankbaits have been working. Sonetimes with, but usually without a bobber. Tipping the lures with a small piece of worm or berkley gulp has helped. They are VERY light biting. I usually get about a dozen in an hour or so; they average about 8" with some up to 11". I've been catching a couple small sunnies and largemouths each time, too. Nothing too big but still fun. grin.gif

Tuesday I was catching Crappies and Sunfish below the Dam on pink/white mini-mite below a bobber (no meat). Someone was fishing for carp and landed a couple of those also.

I'm pretty sure the old owner Jack still owns the property and leases to the landing. I live close and with an inclusive business plan I think it would do fantastic. When jack ran it the place was packed. The owner of wolf bay lodge told me his business tripled since the landing changed hands. There is plenty of demand for a fun place to go that treats everyone the same whether they are rich or not, local or tourist. I've owned a few businesses in this area and there aren't enough extra customers that you can afford to get rid of anyone. Why anyone would want to is beyond me.

Pretty sure I know who that is. Won't mention any names tho. What did he get busted for?

Crazy birds!  Seen 2 jakes that would putt and cut like hens, a little deeper sound of course, and would talk back to me and Abi.  The Tom was absolutely quiet and disinterested.   Been along time since birds were this quiet.  Tough to make moves.  Probably just better to sit tight and wait.   Good luck.
