Anyone Planning Thanksgiving Diver Hunts?

5 posts in this topic

With the void of Bills, Goldeneyes, Mallards, and Buffleheads in th eBemidji area I am looking ahead to post deer season hunts on big water. I am thinking Thanksgiving may be fun for one last chance before the close on the 27th.

I close the season every year in the Bemidji area. My favorite time of the year to hunt. No competition and usually some great hunting.

Absolutely! Whether it's breaking ice to get out onto lake of the woods or setting up with a giant "hook" of divers on the rainy river. You can quarantee that I will be there! there is nothing like a late diver hunt!

Divers? I prefer dry feet and some fat greenies in the corn, some nice drake divers would make a good pic though too...

Looks like there should be open water for you guys until the end of the season up there AGAIN this year, this weather is wild, central Saskatchewan is barely getting below freezing for the next week!

Had a good day with some good friends today.  Was nice to have a MANY fish day for a change this season.  The crappies weren't the biggest but we sorted through for a decent fry.  The pikers were a nice addition for the last weekend of the season.  We fished from 8 to 22 feet with a vast mix of presentations.   The oddest thing was the start to the day when this button buck slammed into the deck railing and broke its neck while we were getting ready to go out.  We called in for the permit and enjoyed some fresh blackstrap with the fresh fish for dinner.

That sucks when you lose gear. Tom way to go trying to find the owner of  the lures.
