Great report.

Leonard I would guess? He can't hear very well anymore, but he is one heck of a good guy and a great fisherman. A person could learn a lot just following him around.

I found out last week I work with Mr. Leonard in Hawley. smile.gif I learned a lot about fishing just talking to him for 15 minutes out in the shop - a great guy! I live a mile from Big C and am trying to figure out the lake. I'm hoping he can help. Winter patterns are a cinch smirk.gif; but summer is confusing the heck out of me confused.gif.

I can go to Mille Lacs and put 50 pounds in the boat in one evening but can't catch 5 pounds on my local lake. That makes me look pretty pathetic. frown.gif

Tad --

Keep talking to LB -- he has a TON of info in his head. Just talk loudly or just listen.

I have to tell you a funny story about Leonard. I used to work with him too and on Fridays he used to like to make a run to Fargo for parts or whatever and stop at the Northern for lunch (I hear the buffet is great) anyway, this one gal got mad at him because instead of giving her a dollar bill ol Leonard gave her four quarters. I laughed my $&@ off when he told me that, but the kicker was that when she told him that she wouldn't accept the quarters, he said to her "what?? It's a buck isn't it??"

Can't you just see him in there taking four quarters out of that little plastic coin purse that he carries in his pocket. Leonard is quite a guy, they threw away the mold when he was born.

A couple of buddies hit Big C yesterday and they did not land a fish. One buddy said he broke a couple of lines and had some hits, but that was about it.

Was on Skogman last night. Could not get anything of size to bite. 3 " sunnies and 6" crappies this time. The vex was lit up most of the time with lookers.  Last year did Ok with bigger crappies and sunnies. Middle of the week - not to much activity - nice weather- was hoping for better results. Oh well - that's fishing. Good Luck

You're running up against a political position here, not a logical one. I'm struggling to remember if it was Pawlenty or Ventura but one of them started to swing things heavily towards "fees" because they could argue that they weren't new taxes. I think that mentality has permeated through many layers of government by now, so I'm not surprised to hear someone from the DNR state that fishing license fees aren't taxes.   It doesn't really matter, we are paying to use something that requires money to stock and manage. Whatever it's called, it will never be free unless fishing pressure drastically decreases.

Spent a few hours on Skogman yesterday. (3:00 to 6:30)  Most of the time the vexlar was so lit up that you couldn't see the lure. Bad news is that they were very small sunnies and crappies. Fished in the area of the cluster of ice houses in  24  ft water. No fish kept this time out. Good ice but getting a little sloppy.

Another Spring-like day on Thursday. I got skunked but my buddy landed a couple of nice ones. C & R.

Very true! Cenaiko Lake had at least 100 houses on it at 7 in the morning on Saturday and it is only a 28 acres. It is absolutely packed with fish though.
