Max McGee dies at 75

3 posts in this topic

Sad news for Packers and NFL fans as the wise cracking party boy from G.B.'s first super bowl falls off his roof in Deephaven, MN. McGee was well known for playing in that game with a severe hangover and catching the first TD pass in super bowl history. He also was a bit of a jokester (See AP story for some of his comedic lines). McGee was blowing leaves off his home's roof and fell.

Very sad indeed, but I have to ask the question. What the heck was a 75 year old man doing on his roof? He has to have a little money saved up, I think he is the one who came up with the Chi Chi's Mexican Restaurant chain, thought it might be another old Packer player, but why would he not hire somebody to do that work? Very sad.

Plus his youngest son looked like he was about 17 or so on the news last night- wouldn't you have told your dad you'd go up there? Truly a sad day

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
