Your thoughts of this weeks game

With the viking on a wining streak, (1) AP coming off a great game, T-Jack with a decent game, the head coach seeing what happens if you give AP the ball, and a couple good catches by the recievers, will the game be in reach at the 4th quarter? I think the Vikings will play hard to try to prove themselves as a team.

The Vikings offense looked better last week, even playing the bears defense. Although in the end, I think Cowboys by 10, there offense is passing, inwhich is our weak point. I think it will be a good game.

What do you guys think?

I feel that we have a good chance to be in it if they can keep Owens some what contained and Witten too we should be able to stay close with very little mistakes.

AP makes it a lot easier for Jackson to pass. As longs and butter fingers can actually hold on to the ball should be fun to watch. Wait it is football it is always fun to watch.

I bleed purple but I think the cowboys passing attack will be too much for the viking secondary. I hope T-Jack can have a geat game, and AP rushes for another big day!! Good Luck Vikes!!

The way the vikings play i don't think the outcome will not be decided headed into the 4th quarter. They'll be able too run the ball and there will be opportunities too get some shots in deep, but once again its if any can be complete. You know teams are going too try and load up on the run. And i gotta believe one of these games intsead of getting none or 1 of the 5 deep balls on target he'll get 3 of them and that will be fun. A young QB's game is inconsistent and one of these games the ball will be on target and the recievers will catch em'. But i'd be foolish too predict a win. Cowboys 27-16.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well it looks like the Vikings will be on tv again, barely! I will watch the game, it should be a good game, there will be the best 2 running backs playing each other.

As for my thoughts of this weeks game, I think the Vikings will come out ahead this week, and next week of course grin.gif . Vikings by a touch down!!!!

I'm gonna have Rivers, Tomlinson, and Gates going. In another league I will have Rivers, Tomlinson and Chambers.

I play in three leagues and all total will have V.Jackson, Chambers, gates, LT, and the Chargers DEF going this week. And I also took the Chargers as my Eliminator (suicide/King of the Hill) pick.

Some guy in my FF league dropped Jamal Lewis 2 weeks ago. I quickly picked him up, and was a smiling fool last night- 4 tds + over 100 total yards.

I think AP will rush for 160 yds, score 2 td's, I think Sharper will have a couple int's, in the end Vikings 27-24.

sharper does have a way of comming back to haunt the pack, but i see more like 85 rushing yards, and the pack by 10

17-7

AP 100yrds 1td, about 40 yards receiving.

Favre- 300+yrds passing, 3td's I'll throw in 1 pick

Jenning's will have 100+ yrd receiving with 2 td's

Packers- 27

Vikes- 13

Packers might win again but not by 2 TD's. Look for Bollinger too connect again on a few longballs this time. Holcomb missed several opportunities the first game. Bollinger will hit a few and make the pack pay for loading up the box. I think the vikings have a good chance. Momemtum can mean a lot and they have it after last weeks performance. It will be interesting if the vikings try too put heat on Favre like they did against the Chargers. It will not work as well but if you make Favre rush things he throws INT's. It will also be interesting too see how AP does again. I read something that said that AP really worked on being patient and waiting for the crease too open before the chargers. The coaches thought he was at times forcing the issue and not being patient. If the line plays like it did against the chargers AP will run loose all game long again. Its almost as if you dont care if a defense loads up on the run because you can stop him for no gain 2 times in a row and then just 1 crease and forget it, he cuts and you are not catching him. AP will get his, I think Bollinger will get his too with a few downfield shots. Now the question is if the defense can play like it did last week. A viking win wouldnt shock me, but if i had too pick a winner i'd take GB 23-20.

after all the stars shine (Favre, AP) the game will be decided by Crosby or Longwell. How sweet would it be to see Longwell kick a game winner for the Queens at the girl with the curl???

Vikes 22-20

How embarrassing, this was the worst game I have seen the Vikings play in about 6 years. Could anything go right? Well the good thing is we should have a really good draft pick this spring. After last week, I had false hopes for this team, not anymore.

Is Brad Childress the worst coach to ever hit the Vikings?

It's unbearable to watch him run our team each week. It's the end of the game, we're on the verge of a shutout, we could maintain some dignity and at least get some points on the board.

Nope. Not under chilly's watch. Instead of bringing in Longwell (well within his range), 4th and 7 with 51 seconds left. throw a 3 yard pass over the middle when you have no timeouts left.

Unbelievable...

It hurts to watch everytime after a win, its like brad gives the team the week off. We always get the pick of the litter dont we. Hats off to the green and gold they sure were prepared. And played theyre butts off.

I agree Childress is horrible, but he didnt drop them 4 int's that were handed to our defence, or drop almost every pass thrown to out recievers! I agree there wasnt a game plan, if there was it wasnt very good.

Childress could not put a game plan together to save his life!! I have seen so many times this year, at a crucial moment/situation, the camera shows him, looking at his "kick a** offense" playbook, look back to the field, look at the playbook.. complete deer in the headlights..

We got lucky last week. We won't see a game like that again this year. Thats for sure.

I know Brett Favre is a great quarterback, but who else could be that lucky sometimes? Throw a horrible pass that should have been intercepted as soon as it left his hand, bounces off Griffin and Sharper, flies in the air and into a Packer receiver. In the end, it's scored in the books as a TD pass for #4 and John Madden can talk about it later. Face facts, he didn't throw a touchdown pass, folks, he threw an interception that ended up as a touchdown.

By the way, Griffin would have had it if Sharper would have stayed out of there.

Yeah, I believe Antoine Winfield was correct in his post-game quotes. Green Bay was the better team, but not by 34 points.

Favre gets lucky on that TD and Bollinger gets unlucky when Mewelde tips one right into Charles Woodson's hands.

Well, Viking fans will lament another loss until the purple wins again (maybe next week against a poor Oakland team), and then it will be time to talk about running the table and how good they looked. I've never seen a fan base get so excited after single isolated wins.

Sometimes, when single isolated wins, even against horrible teams, is all the Vikes can accomplish, fans will take what they can get. grin.gif

This is absolutely the worst regular season game I have EVER watched the Vikings TRY to play; and against a division opponent! The Vikings were not prepared to play Sunday. The offensive lines blocking schemes, oh yah, what blocking schemes? No offensive game plan, other than to hand off to Peterson, so basically no offensive game plan.

I am beginning to suspect our coaching staff may be just a tad overmatched in this league. I hope that Wilf is in secret negoiations with Marty. I think we have a team that could play pretty good Martyball. His knock is he can't win a playoff game. You don't win many playoff games if you don't get to the playoffs either. At the very least we might be competitive again.

Yesterday's game was a real doozie.

And I thought the Vikes had a chance to go in and win. blush.gif

Good thing the beer was cold and the wings were hot...

I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!
    • Brianf.
Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
