Last Saturday night

1 post in this topic

Made it up last Saturday and fished from 7-1. We fished the Northwest side and the night started out very slow. We didn't catch a fish until about 8:15. We were fishing from 5-8' of water and ended the night with 15 walleyes and a monster northern that we guessed weighed btwn 15-20 lbs. The water temp. was 55 and the wind went from flat calm to a wind out of the east which gave us some pretty good rollers.

All fish were caught on #12 HJ's with purple perch being the hot color. The key for us was having our lines out about 50' as the weeds were a problem if we were any further back.

Our boat speed was btwn 1.2-1.7 mph. We did catch four slot fish which was a surprise. The bite was a little better than last weeks bite and I'm hoping it gets progressively better this weekend. Also, very little boat traffic on the water which was nice. Good luck this weekend.

Found a half dozen good size crappies on Clear Lake in Waseca Sunday.  Just off the bottom in 8 feet of water, minnows under bobbers.  Water temp was 58 on the east side of the lake, which was a full degree above the rest of the lake.

yepper, almost 30 between the 2 of us in the slack water next to fast water. kinda hard to fish in that fast water when it's moving so fast...

We were using both, but the number of fish caught was definitely based on..... location, location, location - slack water during high flows is where it's at buddy.

Very weird. Those little worms in the garden do catch more than little 2-4 sunfish.
