Can you believe that!!!!!

I know, I know! I said I would not watch nother Vikes game this year! I watched the last half of the forth quarter. I was up and I was down and then a long field goal. Peterson and Jackson seem to work!

Go Vikes!

That was sweet even though they tried to give it away at the end. A win is a win an AP is amazing.

I am a little skepy on Jackson, but Peterson is a holder!

We won a game, cool! I thought for sure we would loose!

Gives a little skip while doing my house work today in the rain!

Setting up stuff for our yearly haunted house and also getting some boxes of hunting stuff down fom garage attic!

Cool!

If you're a Bears fan, that must really suck to lose to a team that sucks. grin.gif Thank you AP.

WILLIAMSON GOT HIS FIRST TOUCHDOWN IN 2 YEARS!!!!!!!

WOOOHOOOO,

I kinda wish that they would have lost.

With this win, it gives them false hope. They don't have a QB to get them to a wildcard birth so I think that they should start shooting for draft position blush.gif

They are a Quaterback and a WR away from a division title.

I confess, I had totally forgotten about Vikes game and caught the tail end when going in for a beer from going thought hunting stuff I just brought down from garage attic!

If it had not been raining today, I would of been hunting.

Like next Sunday!

There was a little sarcasium in me starting this thread, but I am a Vikes fan and a win is a win!

Its a great day when your buddy who organized the Sunday football party is a Bear's fan (and he's not even from Chicago! Seams like most aren't), and they took it up the goalposts at the end. grin.gif

Peterson looked great! Thank You Childress for allowing him to carry the ball in the 4th Quarter!

If it wasn't for Hester we would have won by 17 points. And, how did the refs miss the HUGE block in the block right at the point of attack on that kick return for a TD.

AP is a stud!

Ya, and if wasn't for Adrian, the Bears would have won by at least 17 too. grin.gif

It wasn't even close to an illegal block he hit him directly from the side with his helmut on the front of the player being blocked he then turned his back which would leave a person to believe it was illegal.

Clean block all the way text book...and another return by the best ever.

I agree AD "not ap" is a stud.

Cool hadn't heard his nickname. How did he get All Day when until this week he only played half game? grin.gif.

Looked like his head was his side to me. I dont know how a guy can come from behind a player and throw a block in front him.

I watched it again last night on MNF and had it on my DVR so I could rewind and rewatch. There was definitely no turning after frontal contact, and the guy was never in front, his head was off to the side which might have made it look that way, but he came from straight behind him and hit him square in the back. CLEAR BLOCK IN THE BLACK.

Shoulder pad too shoulder pad head in front textbook block.

They even broke it down on ESPN.....

I understand looking at in full speed it may appear to be a bad block buts its a call you will never get.

Peterson is great, but, well, he still isnt starting! Chester is still seeing more carries, which means, more opportunities for Chester as well...

What a day for AD. What also was huge was Jackson not making any critical errors, and the O line playing theyre best game of the year against a great D.

Way to go Vikes. Still want Childdddy gone!!

Illegal block or not VIKES WIN. I was superised that when Jackson didnt see anything open he threw it at AP's feet instead of making a bad decision and try to make something happen.

There were a few times he could have lowerd his shoulder to pick up the first down easily! But its rookie mistakes, he will get better, he has already, just like any other rookie qb, they just need time!

Peiere, you don't get it. Any call that goes against the queens is a bad call. In reality, the vikes haven't even really lost a game this year, two wins and 3 games the refs lost for the queens. 5-0. Great job Vikes!!

Why dont you find us a 5 second clip of the "non-fumble" in the packer game and demonstrate how that was a good call too. That block may have been good. Look at the picture all you want but its not a call that you will never get as you stated. The packer play wasnt good. Its not blaming the refs for a loss. Its just asking not too get hosed and have a TD taken away in a 7 point game in the 4th quarter.

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st

As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor. The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.   Just thought they always looked cool!

I had a guy hit me with a lightly used 1969 BAR, he wanted $1650 with an older Leupold scope. More than I think they are worth, I made an offer, he declined end of story.   You know if you look at the old brochures, a grade II BAR sold for $250 in the late 60s, $1650 would be a good return on your investment.    Why would anybody want a 50 year old gun, they are heavy, have wood stocks, and blued metal.  I guess mainly to keep their gun safes glued to the floor. lol   You can probably buy a stainless rifle that you never have to clean, with a synthetic stock you never have to refinish, is as light as a feather, and for half as much money, perfect.   I'm too old for a youth gun, although I've shrunk enough that it would probably fit. lol   No Ruger 10/44s.   Jim
