gunflint

Question

Do fishing rods, particularly upper end graphite rods have a shelf life? Are they has good in 10 years as they are the day you buy them?

as far as I know, graphite does not degrade.. I could be way wrong on this.. I would be more interested in how much we/rod builders learn. So, your rods would be more "outdated" than lesser rods than the day you bought them.

I would be willing to bet that the coating/clear coat will diminish the more its left in UV sunlight.

I would think if rods degraded over time that manufacturers woudl be very hesitant to offer lifetime warranties.
