Confluence Action?

8 posts in this topic

Anybody having any luck fishing the confluence area lately? I'm debating whether to hit pike island, lilydale, harriet island, or SSP over the next couple of days. email me please if you do not want to post. I'll mainly be fly fishing or throwing plastics from shore. Thanks.

I fished this area last Sunday morning, and am sorry to say I didn't have a very good day. Nothing at the confluence and nothing but a small white bass up to the dam. I was trolling a #5 Shad Rap firetiger or perch. Tried casting the rock rip rap at the dam with a jointed Shad Rap perch with no luck. Tried casting a few current breaks with no luck. The current has picked up a little and with the forecast may pick up some more. Hopefully the water temps will start coming down.

Fished by the confluence Saturday night with decent. Using sassy shads I was able to pick up a couple smallies, sheepies, with a stray white bass and crappie. Surprisingly I havent got a walleye or sauger there in a while, maybe too much poaching???

I hit the confluence and fished around pike island yesterday afternoon. nothing. saw one dinky perch follow my plastic to shore. Debating about whether or not to go back this afternoon for more punishment. If nothing else, I found a few agates and got about 6 or 7 miles under my belt yesterday.

Confluence fun doesnt start until we lose at least another 8-10 degrees, steady. I notice its best in the upper 50's or lower. The bait fish arent all there yet.

Fun fun

went back yesterday afternoon and hiked the shore up to minnehaha. caught a couple smallies, one ok sized, and a white bass. There were a few baitfish around, but not alot like you had mentioned channelfats. I agreee that it is early for the action to pick up.

Lots of mayflies now.  Larvae were coming up two weeks ago and now good amounts of sheds on the water.  Fishing has been great for those willing to move around and find active fish.  Start looking to first reefs off islands and shorelines as fish are starting to move to them.  30ft for us was good. Leeches.  2-3ft snell.  Plain hook.  Caught quite a few yesterday.  Good size range.  Kabetogama

Besides there's 3 nice ramps there. 1 on the west, 2 to the east of the bridge.

Good pretty good. Went out from the northwest side I think Garrison. Made our way to eight mile was able to go full-throttle the majority of the way but when the waves got too big has lower down. My buddy went looking for a drift sock but couldn't find one so we used a five-gallon bucket which work fairly well glad we had at least that. Well we are drifting it was perfectly fine but a pain in the butt trying to motor back up through the big waves. Then after some time sitting out there I had enough of sitting on those big waves and told my buddy that we needed to get closer to shore. The right back was very slow going and wet. Started to get a little concerned when my bilge pump stopped working and the back of my boat started to fill up especially when I was finally able to give it more throttle man the back of the boat was full of water but we made it back I got a new bilge pump and everything was all good quite the experience but I'll be back there again with my boat. And good thing we had back when we did there was barely any gas left in the tank.

We are headed out in yaks from st cloud to clearwater, with clearwater outfitters. Was looking for some posts about the river, looks like it will be a pretty nice float from your pics

Any new info on locations and bait preferences? Depths? Reefs? Minnows, worms or leeches? Heading up Saturday. Thanks

Well better you found it now and not this weekend or you would be SOL fore sure being the 4th.  Nothing wrong with a good old lake bath though!  Good Luck.

Got to cabin.  Water heater out, I think it is thermocouple.  Looking for someone to fix it, soon as possible.   I'm on west end and could use a suggestion.  I am going to call lakes gas too, see if they have anyone.
