Who wants/needs some frozen smelt?

8 posts in this topic

I have probably 20 frozen bags of smelt, that have 20-25 smelt a piece in them.

Anyone interested? I hate to see them go to waste! (I won't be using them anymore this year!)

leave a message, i work downtown duluth tomorrow, and live in hermantown. I'm open to deliver. No charge for anything of course...just want to see a fellow FM'er put 'em to use.

Geez! I'd love to get hold of some but the closest I'll be to you is Cloquet tomorrow (Friday) about 7pm on my way to Ely.

Got any reason to be in Ely over the weekend? wink.gif

Nice of you to offer.

Lets just consider it an "upgrade" from the last bar i worked at!

Most i talk to don't know it as the Capri, they know it as "The Peanut Bar"

If you are still looking to get rid of some smelt I might be able to take a few off of your hands. I live in Virginia but frequently drive down to Duluth to visit buddies.

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
