Nooner. Let me know. we usually leave wednesday morning around 5 am.

I put in a short but productive 2-1/2 hour session late yesterday afternoon and was pleased with the results. Five 'eyes landed, no braggers but nice fish just the same.

I spoke with another guy yesterday morning while he was loading his boat at my place, he had a great morning! Two @ 28 inch's, one @ 25 and 4 more around the twenty inch range.

Four of us are heading out tomorrow morning for a little trophy hunting, I'll post the results.

Early December ice fishing get-together on the Red! That could prove very interesting!

Catman where have you been puting in at? Up by Grand forks? I've been trying around Fargo with no luck on walleyes or saugers yet. But it should be comming around.

Just so you're on track.....we're located on the "Canuck" portion of the Red, a place where trophy walleye fishing is as good as it gets! It's a mere four hour drive north of Fargo.

Whether you're into open water or hard water, the "greenback" run on the Red is a place that should be locked onto your radar.

The open water run is now underway and before to long the hard water season will be upon us. Hard water on the Red has to be experienced to be appreciated and then March on Lake Winnipeg becomes an absolute must! In fact the action can be so tremendous it can quickly become addictive. Many hardcore trophy hunters focus their efforts on the lake and forget about the river!

We did get yesterday for a morning session and over all we managed to put a few nice 'eyes into the boat. We ended up with six walleye and a couple dozen sauger. The largest walleye was a five pounder. Another boat that pulled near the location where we were fishing landed a twenty eight inch trophy. Of the six boats working the general area, all were enjoying some decent success.

Those pulling cranks were also enjoying good results yesterday, this is to be expected every year during the early stages of the "fall-run"....

Hey Stu,

It's that time of year to start thinking greenbacks! Oh wait, you probably thing about them year round!

The guys are talking about planning a trip up there this winter. I know last year we had things lined up and then our buddies father was in the hospital. He is doing well! We'll see if we can make things work..but some questions.

When would be a good time to come up for early ice? December? Then depending on your answer, do you have any rooms (3-4 guys) available for that time?

Hadanooner, to get your glands running, fished the Red this morning for 5 hrs with a friend and did a PB (31") and she was chunky. We also boated a 25, 24 and a few others, in total about 20 between sauger and greenies.

Early ice is great but that totally depends on the temps. Typically it is December, call me chicken but there are alot and I mean alot of air pockets on the river and personally I usually wait until the 21st Dec before venturning out and that is on foot.

The fall run will continue from now until freeze up. I spoke with the guys that run the locks and they said they will be starting the "draw down" around the 15th Oct but it will be slowwwwwwwwwwwww very similar to last year and if U remember that draw down did not shut the greenies down. It can be alittle slower for a couple of days but not really that much.

December is a great time to be on the Red, "BIG" fish are relatively concentrated and easy to locate. Over all results during December could best be described as amazing!

We will be fully operational for the up coming hard water season this winter. Our main objective is to provide our guests with first class accommodations and to provide up-to-date and accurate information to insure that everyone has a reasonable opportunity for success.

Right now Brian we're totally focused on the current open water "fall-run", which I might add is going very smoothly thus far!!!

Ed........just a quick update to let you know that Nooner's boat landed a 10.5 yesterday (day one)....jigs and salties did the trick. The other guys in the party stuck some nice fish, but no trophies. The air temps were cooler over night and this morning as well, this should help with todays efforts!

Hey Nooner here. Ok I think everyone knows my love affair with the red river up north. well the saga continues. Once again this river keeps amazing me with every trip i make up there. Myself and the two others were rewarded with 4 fish in the master anglers category. Of course i had the smallest weighing in at 9.5 pounds, Jaime had a 10 1/2 pounder and Dan the guy who shows up and 30 minutes later lands a 13.12 pound wall hanger. then the next morning he boated a 12 pounder. Man i wish i was using his gear. All fish were released alive and well. Call Stu at Cats on the red, get in your truck and head north the sumos are bitting. Thanks again Stu and to everyone at cats on the red for taking care of us and every need we had. Truly a once in a liftime(or year if your lucky like me) trip. See you up north on the ice. Nooner

Hot Bites were Salmo Number 6s, I like the sinking ones, Yozuri Minnows. Fire Tiger, Perch, Black and Gold, and Pink were the hot colors. can someone get some pictures up for me?

We had fun, just could not get the big girls in the boat this trip. Dropped every pig I had pinned...that was a Fun Sucker...Eh.

Nooner and crew were sucking up all the luck, (there Luck Suckers) they put big fish in the boat daily. They had their game on I guess.

I'll have to pick on some local Piggies for a couple of weeks and see if my luck changes.

A crew of us headed out on the "toon" today, fished for approximately 4 hours with great results! Three trophies landed and at least one heavy fish dropped. We also had plenty of sauger action, as well as landing some 'eyes in the 3 to 4 pound range....(way to big for the table)!

Both Gatorhunter and I played around with our FL-20's today and the results were absolutely amazing! Every fish I caught including a 28 inch beauty was taken in full view of the Vexilar! Man you talk about great stuff! All we did is rig up our tranducers to a crude but effective wooden boom, which was then allowed to petrude over the side of my "toon". From there we simply ran the transducer cord out to end of the makeshift boom and the rest was history...."fish-on"!

Just for the record, the idea was all gator's, he even named the crude boom arms. He named them the "Canad Arms"! (I think it's fare tosay that Gator's got way to much time on his hands"! Must have got the idea from the "SPACE SHUTTLE"! Either way it was a great idea which adds loads of excitement for the quest of locating and landing RED RIVER HAWGS!
