Calling Crappiekeith!!!!!

Crappiekeith-

My Bro-in-law just got a job in the Aitkin area and he is looking for some land to bowhunt on. Do you have any information I could give to him? Good public areas? Possibly a private area? I told him I would give you a shout. I said, "I'll post for Crappiekeith" and he said, "Who?" I told him if he was a FM member he would understand!! Thanks

North ,south, east, or west of town???I know of a few spots.

Since deer hunting up here is sorta a religion, private lands are almost nill. You have to know someone.

My best suggestion would to buy a platt book of the county from the county seat and scout the county lands.

There's deer all over so finding them is not that hard.

Let me know of his whereabouts so I could try to get him into an area that's a close drive.

He lives near Brainerd, but works in Aitkin. I will give him the plat book idea. Are there a lot of tax forfeit lands up there?

You bet Coach!

That's what I'll hunt every year.

I get deer every year too.

I love these fish! The attitude is always fun and they taste great. The strip of y bones can be cut right out with a little effort.    I know where I'll be early in the morning May 13th with topwaters and swimbaits!

Grubens did permits the 2016 season. Fortune bay stopped writing BWCA permits the end of the 2015 season. Sally retired and that ended the permits at the bay.  Some day we will be able to buy permits on line and print them.

The video shown in the link posted above shows most of the fish they're handling going back because they're not ready or too green. The video was from 4/14 so I would bet they are done as that was 1 1/2 weeks ago. Cutfoot was done in less than a week. Cliff will be able to tell you for sure when then finished but I'd guess they were done by the end of last week.
