Border Waters

I have never fished the St. Croix, but friends from work have me convinced its worth the drive from the SW metro. My only questions is this. Do I also need a Wisconsin license to fish the St. Croix? If I only have a MN license, do I need to stay on the MN side or can I fish either shoreline, etc?

Thanks in advance.

You can fish anywhere on the Croix with a MN lic. You can even fish from Wis. shoreline, or launch in Wis. Pretty cool huh? cool.gif

Don't forget you can also use 2 lines, which is also very cool.

Two rods are legal regardless of the lic. you hold.

Thanks for the responses. I am planning to try the river next week during the day. Since its after Labor day, the pleasure traffic should be down considerably?

I bet you got a great deal on it this time of year.  I absolutely love my 8" ION as it has a nice enough size hole when using ice house, also, very light weight when drilling multiple holes.  Love the reverse!  Really makes the experience more fun and not so tired as i was using strike master before and i needed to sit down after drilling 4 holes.  When and if you get to use it.  let us know what you think.   Congrats!   Bob
