A friend of mine and myself went out to Chester to check out the Sunnies Saturday late afternoon. Water is still up about 2 1/2' - 3'. Water clarity is terrible, muddy green. Caught one 11" Crappie and that was it. We had tons on the finder, but no takers. Like to learn more about Cat fishin', but my fishin' experience is very limited and without knowing anybody in the area that has done much fishin' period, I'm outa luck.

First let me say welcome to FM! I was in you exact shoes about a year ago. Don't beat yourself up too bad, this site is full of helpful people. Just don't be afraid to ask questions. Also another great way to meet some of these people is to participate in some of the different events, in fact I am sure that you have seen that we have an Ultimate Panfish League-Rochester event coming up on the 10th out at chester woods, feel free to come on down and fish! Also for catfish information you should check out the catfish forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll keep an eye out for the Catfish forum. Hopefully I'll be able to make the fishing at Chester on the 10th. Thanks!

Navionics also provides a computer based by region lake map U.S and Canada region with 1ft. contours at no cost. Like Gps Nautical Charts USA you can also purchase a version for your smart phone / tablet under $10 vs. $15 for Nautical Charts. Navionics offers SonarChart Live which give the users an opportunity to upload recorded contours to Navionics to update the Navionics maps which can be downloaded at any time providing constant updating to accurate lake contours. http://webapp.navionics.com/#boating@11&key=kz__HrgubQ

There was random ice sheets all over the lake this morning.   Should be ice covered 100% barring it being to windy.   By Friday at the latest.   Could be ice fishing next week in certain areas.   Don

Was up this past weekend, everything is still open. Should lock up this week though looking at the chilly forecast.

An older gentleman I know gave me his ice fishing gear last year knowing he wasn't able to use it anymore due to health.  Really tore him up, as I'm sure it would for all of us.  Cleaned up the tipups real nice, and took this photo of one on Leech to send to him knowing they were in good hands and more importantly continue to catch fish!   I'm not in St.Cloud, nor want in for the contest just thought I'd share
