I had a 1 in 5 chance, make that 1 in 3, two tags went to land owners.

I don't get it, zone 435, Morton to Granite Falls a ton of birds and only 5 tags confused.gif

Oh well I guess the DNR know what they'er doing.

No tag for me frown.gif unless someone in the southeast part of the state will help me out HINT, HINT smile.gif.

Have a Safe Labor Day weekend

Dan

Thanks for letting us know!

It got past me once again this year. I knew I had to get there to do it, and it just didn't happen. Will have to focus more on deer hunting is all I guess.

As for low fall tag numbers, it's my supposition that they're reluctant to hand out too many fall tags in areas that are just getting underway in terms of turkey numbers. Reason being, I think, has to do with being allowed to take a hen in the fall. High hen mortality, esp. going into winter and all of its unknowns isn't a good way to expand the wild turkey population, esp. on the fringes of its current range.

My 12 yr old daughter and her friend applied as a group and drew tags so it should be a good time! Good luck to those going.

I'll be doing a fall turkey seminar at the Gander in Lakeville just before the season starts. Stay tuned for details.....

My son and I each drew a fall tag again.

I just picked up some new arrows and broadheads at the Gander in Lakeville yesterday. Hopefully my schedule will allow us to make your seminar.

For the summer trip, there are many nice resorts to choose from.   Depends on what you are looking for.   If you want walleye, choose something on the Tower end.  If more Bass, Musky, or Northern then either end of the lake.       There is a fair amount of variation in amenities and price among the various resorts, with many to choose from.

Would love to get together, but still in recovery from shoulder surgery. I will be attending the Ruffed Grouse Society Birds and Brews gathering and the Pheasants Forever Greet and Meet in Cambridge at the Pizza  Pub and Sidelines respectively in February. RGS on the 2nd at 5:30 and PF on the 20th at 5:30. No cost - just fun.

As far as I know there are no resorts that rent fish houses on Vermilion. You could try Pike Bay Lodge though. Great place! Cliff

Ha. Nope. Those are just my numbers. The other guys got 25-35 each per day.    The purpose of posting the info I did is to point out that the sky is not falling. There are still a ton of fish in the lake, just have to find them.

Keep on preaching BA.   Just got back from a resort on the river, 3 days fishing. 22 feet of water, they sad they were catching fish. Shacks obviously haven't been moved so far. Obvious tell tale signs.   2 out of 3 afternoons never marked one fish. The other was just a couple. Morning bite 8-8:07   They ran with the pedestrian anglers/corporate drinking groups  'good fishing' reports with their bucket of 1 limit of 10" saugers.   Signed, Disappointed Schnook from Chicago
