Proposed Waterfowl Changes by GLIFWC

1 post in this topic

I went to the state fair and of course spent some time at the DNR building and I also picked up an Outdoor News (dated August 31st, 2007; Vol.40, No.35). The article I read was somewhat disturbing. The article is on the first page just under main picture. Proposed changes for off-reservation water fowling include new bag limits, no species restrictions and later daily close for the season. Now, if you ask me, this is moving in the opposite direction of what MN DNR waterfowl plan is attempting to achieve. The way I understand it this proposal is just asking for reduced populations. I am concerned that this could lead to significantly reduced numbers of ducks and geese if passed.

If anyone has read this article can they comment? The scope of this affects MN, WI and Michigan based off of treaty areas.

Who wants to fish in the dark, best thing about Vermilion is the ability to catch walleyes during bankers hours.  I would recommend looking into one of the private rentals on the lake (VRBO, etc.), most will have a private dock and offer more privacy.

Hey Bob,   We are coming up this weekend, fishing for the entire day on Saturday the 21st.  Osakis has been on my radar as have a few of the chain lakes, however with it being so long since I have fished in the area, I just wanted to see if there were any other suggestions for a decent multi-species lake or at least one with a chance for having a respectable crappie - walleye combo.   We also have been looking into Mary, Ida, Irene and Oscar.
