7 posts in this topic

I've been out of the loop on Mille Lacs for two weeks, Traveling for work. How's the fishing been? Are you guys out on the mud or rocks?

Thanks,

I haven't been out in almost for a month. I got a report form my Cousin to fish the south end rocks. Bobbers when there is a wind. 6-8 ft med size leeches.

This report is from last weekend

I just got home from the pond. Managed 1 walleye. Couldn't keep the perch off the line. Good slabs though.

Fished the SE corner mainly. Rocks seemed to be better. Flats didn't produce much.

How deep were the perch?

We found most of the keepers in 4 to 10 FOW. Deeper water, they were much smaller.

I do not know. I would assume so as the water starts to cool down a bit. Water was 69 on Thursday, and up to 71 on Saturday. This was the first time I have been up the the pond in 15 years, and I will definitely be going back!

Most of our fish came on minnows under bobbers. I spooked countless fish with even subtle jigging.

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info everyone. And Borch that is good to know too.  I try to spend 2-3 hours looking on cedar each trip, but It's a lot of water to break down , and having only been out hardwater cattin 6 times so far I still have a lot to learn.  Generally I spend a lot of my 3 hours losing confidence and then wind up at the meth hole to catch a few .  Putting in the work is what makes it so fun once it all comes together though!
