Minn Kota Repair Question!!

3 posts in this topic

I have a power drive with sonar, auto etc... I need to put a new housing on because the old one broke when the motor came down. I have the new part however, how do I get the old one off? Do I take the power head off the top and slide the housing up off the shaft or do I take the lower unit and prop drive off the bottom and slide it off that way? Any help would be most appreciated. Can't you find a local service center? They could probably do the job for you in five minutes. Call MinnKota. Very helpful people. Why take the chance of doing some little thing wrong that buggers up the entire unit.

Yeah, you might save a buck or two, but maybe not. wink.gif

I had that problem before. I downloaded the manual and it shows how to take it apart. You do have to take the top off and slide the shaft down. It's not all that hard, just takes a little time.

What about Super America at Pike Lake? I think they do the same, with better hours. they refill out of big tank.

Nice thats what I like to hear, was doing an annual trip to LOW with my buddies, but to be quite honest biggest fish I ever saw in 10 plus trips was 27 inches, I caught 3 bigger than that on the pond last year, and hey I can stay in Wright county where I live and catch 10 inch walleyes.. I don't make it up to that end of the lake ever, usually fish the south end..Bought a wheel house this year, would loke to set it up as base camp and hopefully be able to head up toward that end and do some exploring..And thanks for the input, thinking there is a lot of readers and not many writers on this site nowadays...

Lake Marion is completely iced over. Hopefully we won't get much snow and be fishing soon.

Silver lake in New Brighton is iced over. I'm going to count one week before checking thickness on my early ice spots. Could be fishing next Friday if all goes well.
