Ripley

3 posts in this topic

I hit Ripley yesterday morning and really got into some nice bass out there. It had been a long time since I have fished the reeds out there and I was plesently suprised. most fish came of plastic and a few on top water. I caught 15 bass in under 3 hrs by my self, and I also missed a few biggens too.

Any one else been out there latley, I think the key is early in the morning on cloudy days. Find the reeds that have the smallest amount of curly pond weed around them or any other nasty weeds, and you'll find fish.

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
