Conceal and carry class

5 posts in this topic

I just took my conceal and carry class. Wow did I learn a lot.

I think everyone that is interested in that should take one. It was incredible what I learned. The guy did a GREAT job.

I am sure you all would think that Da Hitman has a conceal an carry permit, but I did not. It is hard to be the hitman with a beer can top, some fishing line, and a duck call, but I have managed. grin.gifgrin.gifcool.gif

A small story about conceal carry. My father avid collecter of firearms, antique, rare, different etc. found a small plastic pistol about size of a credit card at a gun show in Tulsa OK. If you were to imagine the size of a small solar caculator that held 2 shots. Ok to make a long story short, during my divorace tiral at the Clay County Court house I see my father disapear in the middle of it only to return about 5 minutes later. At lunch he told me had to return to the car to put his pistol in the trunk. He had forgot about it being in his shirt pocket of all places. It never set off the detector at the court house. Couldn't belive it. Now imaginge if he was some psycho with a point to make. After the day was over my father asked to speak to the head of security and explained what he had done by accident. the guy was in absolute horror. He asked to see the firearm. he brought him to the car and took it out of his trunk safe and showed it to the officer. He just had this real dumbfounded look on his face. Hard to beleive that this gun is perfectly legal and a woring firearm. So the moral of the story, don;t forget to take it out of your personal space before going to court on your ticket.

I have not been on Rainy much as of late. On June 12, I got 75 walleyes in about 6-8 FOW. On. June 15 (Sanctuary opener) I hit Stangi for several hours and only got four fish. June 17, got 20 fish in about five hours - mostly walleyes on a weed edge in about 8 feet of water. Many on jig with Lunker CIty trailers. Also some good ones on a feather jig. Bass were few and far between. Plus some pike but nothing huge. Biggest walleyes 24-25". Bass 18", pike 29". View my fishing report to see videos of lures that were working.   I did mark lots of fish in deeper water but they were dink walleyes so I did not fish them for long. The dinks are actually harder to catch on lures than bigger ones. They respond better to live bait which I don't use.

We had a good bite on 1/2 crawlers today! Boated 45 walleyes and kept our limits of fish that were all between 15-1/2" and 19-3/4 "! Released at least 6 slot fish. Largest was a fat 25-1/2 inch fish. Best over all sized fish limit all summer! The walleyes were stuffed with either May fly nymphs or molted crayfish.

I've fished the hex hatch many times. In wisconsin. The hexs are out at my lakevplace in grand rapids Mn.  its usually a little later on the river. So this weekend into next week and the following week ought to be good. Late in the evening.. like  9:30 on...  I haven't been to the straight for years... I wish you'd let me know how it goes...

6/24/17     Got out on Washington this morning to target walleyes. Cold and windy! Busy today--a bass tournament going on. We fished several spots with leeches under a slip float for eyes. Only caught one small one, and missed a couple bites that might have been walleyes. Did catch several medium to large smallies and one largemouth. Got off the lake about 10:00 as we saw the first wave of rain approaching. Not interested in fishing cold, wind-driven rain. Guess mother nature doesn't always look at the calendar, which said summer started this week. Good luck, and I will see you out there somewhere.

Just back from Big Sandy, fished the main basin and concentrated on two humps. Caught five walleye and kept three that were in the slot, all about 15 inchers. Quit sooner than planned as the wind really started kicking up. Leeches, lindy rigs, red hooks and a green bead did the trick. Tried spinners and crawlers with no luck. All were caught in 9 - 12 FOW.   BIG fire in McGregor this morning, a trucking business on the east end of town burnt down.

Alright, so I got out yesterday in the early afternoon I decided to go try the Mississippi there is this little public boat dock, so I dropped a line there and within the hour I got a Northern Pike it was about 24 inches long and then about a half hour I pulled in a blacktail redhorse an it was about 12 or 13 inches long. So not a bad day out there on the river for dock fishing! I caught both the fish on them green night crawlers, I also tried throwing out a crank, a jig, and a watermelon Senko. All they wanted was them green worms! Thanks for the tips I finally caught a couple fish (hopefully there is more to come)
