Gunflint

Any info on how the Gunflint trail is and the fishing right now? I stayed at the Gunflint Pines Resort camping last year and couldn't keep the smallies off our line. I'm thinking of taking another camping trip this fall and love that area.

Thanks

Im sure you can find smallies all over the place up there. Getting walleyes this time of year can be tuff.

It's been 2 months since I was up there, but the MN side is just fine. Both gunflint and gunflint pines are up and running like normal. The canadian side was totally charred, but by now there should be some green growth. The smallies weren't very numerous, but they were good size.

New to the forum. Glad I was able to find a good forum for trout fishing in the SE area! I had probably my best year of trout fishing this year on the whitewater. Here are a few that I managed to get throughout the year. The first one was in the 16" range and the second one was about 18".

Whose road is that at the bottom of the picture? I am thinking that one of JR's roads is the one that goes off at a diagonal, the second road from the bottom of the picture. The road I am asking about seems more toward the reservation line.   Thanks.

Myr Mar is open on the northwest side. Garrison sports is too, I believe.

Fish the deeper holes and you'll find some suspended cats. They seem to be cruising around about 28-32' under the ice.

There used to be fish house rental and access at:   Hillcrest RV Park     RV Park   Address: 32741 N Lakes Trail, Lindstrom, MN 55045 Phone:(651) 257-5352   You can give them a call and see if they are still there. Been a lot of years.   Post back if you do will ya?   (curious)
