Trolling boards

4 posts in this topic

I have had luck recently trolling boards/cranks on Mississippi pool 4. Will be up on ML a few times over the next couple weeks. Do you think this system is worth a try on Mille Lacs for walleyes? Muskies?

You see people doing this up there this time of the year.

My experience with boards on Mille are on calm days they catch more fish than without. On windy days the rods not on boards seem to catch more. I usually troll leadcore. I just read an article in infisherman talking about surge effect on leadcore that might partially explain why one works better than the other. I wouldn't even think of running cranks w/o having boards along on Mille.

I have used boards to fish over shallow water. The boards have caught smallies in 2ft of water pulling shallows cranks.

Its not safe. Stay off. Don't even walk out...so I can have all the fish to myself.

Made it out to North Center today by sunken island. Not very good, one perch. Marking them just not committing. Lots of water on ice, but ice is fine. 17 inches.    As far as north access, off Nelson road on east side there is an access. Put money in the box and don't be a Richard, I believe it is owned by a farmer and let's people use

Lake St Clair is a blast. If you hit vermilion at the right time it will be right up there with that. No reason you can't have a 100 fish day with a good chance at many big fish. Going by my phone pictures I had a great day on June 17 a few years back ha. Theres no shortage of rocky shorelines and docks. I'm a fan of tubes myself but I know guys love their senkos.    I'm sure you'll get some more specific responses. Wish I had more time to chase them myself
