BW trip - bait and spot advice (Pike Lake)

1 post in this topic

I'm heading up to the BW Thursday (going to be muggy!)- north of Vermillion to Pike lake. It is a shallow lake (18' max) and we will be bringing live bait. We usually bring about a gross of minnows so that they survive the trip. Never have done well on that lake with leeches. Thinking about crawlers...

Anyone with some advice?

Any spots you would suggest? Unfortunatly contour maps are not available for this lake - not on the DNR site, not in McKenzie or Fisher, and not on my Navionics chip. We will be bringing a portable depth finder so hopefully we can find some sunken reefs but it is a fairly big lake...

I'll stand behind Steve's ice rods!   I was able to get a nice collection of them last week.  Some panfish rods that I hope to work out tomorrow, and some walleye/laker types that I used today.  Great feel, light, and well built.       I connected with a couple mid-20 inch lakers today and couldn't have enjoyed the fight any better on another rod.  Very happy!   Thanks Steve!
