JUNE 21 ON THE CROIX

2 posts in this topic

Got on water at 4:30 AM and it was on right away. Caught my first 'eye within five minutes of fishing. Limited out on 'eyes before 7AM. Best one was 20" which was released, the keepers were 15,15.5, and a few 16s.Went to a protected bay for some panfish action. The crappie bite was on. Almost limited out on crappies too. A few decent ones in the bacth. Got a 13 incher- released! Most of the crappies were active on minnows with a few on tubes. The walleyes were good on crawlers and leeches. They were quite deep.

Fall fishing can be excellent but the weather can be iffy. Fortune bay casino has a nice marina. It has a bait shop, fillet house, freezer for you to keep your fish, beer, and gas. The rooms are nice and a decent price. Plus if you sign up for their card and gamble a little they will sent you coupons which commonly include a couple of free week night room rentals. It's not like the cabin feel on the lake but they have a nice pool, hot tub, sauna, and exercise room. They have a little arcade for the kids too. You can get food 24/7 and the bar is always open and has the sports games on. I know it's not for everyone but we have 2 little ones so the pool and arcade are great when they lose their patience with the boat.

Was out yesterday 9am till 2pm. Fished by dam, airplane, pontoon, dock. Fish were terribly negative. Three guys, three gills, one rock bass and dink perch. We were able to drive our pickup truck every where.
