South Center 07.09.07

2 posts in this topic

So I went out with my buddy and his dad on South Center yesterday evening. The night started out pretty slow, the idea was to go out and fish pannies to get a few for the table and have a nice night on the water. We started off that way and pretty quickly changed tactics. We were fishing just north of the long point sticking out of the west side of the lake. The water was about 6" deep between the point and the bouy and there were a ton of bass schooled up on top there. They were all about 8 to 10 inches long and jumping out of the water 20 at a time. There must have been a good 200 out there. Casting senkos we caught a few. We started moving around and in 2 hours the three of us boated about 40 bass, most around 1.5 pounds. My buddy's dad caught his first bass, and then on consecutive casts caught his second and third. It was a lot of fun out there. First time I have ever seen the bass jumping out of the water in schools like this though. We went in pretty close and couldn't see any fry or anything, but I would assume thats what they were chasing. All in all, it great night on the lake.

Nice report, sounds like a good time. Yeah, can't say I've ever seen largemouths doing that before (well, at least not more than 2 or 3). It's pretty common with smallies though. But yeah, would be a nice change of pace with it being largemouths.

My garage roof is leaking from last few weeks and i am very much tensed about it because i have tried many things to block the leaks but nothing can prevent it.So i must call Roof Repair expert for this or is there any way to prevent those leaks.

Thanks. So it hasn't changed much then. Still might go give it a whirl!

If you haven't read it yet, a couple of slobs are about to ruin it for the rest of us. Pick up your garbage and respect private property. The land owners who allow access to the lower sucker river are about to shut it down because they are so fed up with it. http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com

With the wind being fairly strong today I opted to hit the back waters of Little Rock. Have done goid there in yrs past.... so I figured it would be worth a shot. Finding crappies was pretty easy, they were holding tight to the brush and downed trees. Finding crappies over 8inches was tough...lol.  I don't think I broke 9inches. But did manage one big carp. Guessing right around 30in, pulled me and the yak all over the lake before I got it boat side

Hit the one down by Watkins a couple times this winter. There were a lot of people that fished it this last winter. Got gills and crappies of all different sizes. If your looking for keeper size fish, other area lakes will provide better numbers. Haven't been on the other one of  in a few yrs. There were good numbers of 6-7in sunfish if I remember right.
