Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Southern Mn g'eye pilot here... Does anyone know of a horse backing riding outfit in the Grand Rapids - Winni area (or nearby?) I've been surfing around the tourism sites, and not coming up with any concrete connections. Looking for a couple alternative activities for the cabin/fishing vacation next week. How about water parks, anything of that nature in the neighborhood? Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

G'eye, I don't know about horseback but go to the little park service building on 43 a few miles north of gosh dam place just past the bridge over little cutfoot they have different area attractions pamphlets. We did it last year it was pretty interesting to see the old CCC camps there was also a driving loop that had different things to see one was an old fire tower to climb up very very cool you can see a long ways. Hope this helps

Thanks HIGHBANKS, really appreciate the info... I tried the Double K outfit, but seemed to have a bum phone #. I'll have to double check the #.

I hope to get over to Winni for at least one day trip during our stay at the cabin. How much do you charge to launch a boat??? Hopefully I'll run into you.

Yeah - I tried the number myself and got some wierd BEEP! So I investigated a little further and found out that the business was sold off in May!! Maybe try the Deer River business - they are brand new in the area and offer riding services.

If you get a chance stop by the lodge and introduce yourself!! Launch is $10.

Lots of birds kept spots open and the snow covered them now. It’s dangerous if you just rush out. Take your time if you are going to Ann lake or Lori or any in that area.  This my stomping grounds and there only one lake I would fish in the area

Fished from 0815-1230 today out from McKinley out to 26 FOW. Found about 10.75 inches good ice with snow cover varying from 2 inches up to close to a foot in the soft drifts but still not too bad for hiking while dragging the flip over. Had decent action from 0830-0930 bringing up 8 walleyes less than 12 inches long, a 12 inch perch and 2 tullibees all released. About 50-50 on set line vs glow jigging spoon both with chubs. Not sure why I couldn't connect on better quality fish. Still a nice morning with the snow lightly falling and peaks of sun. Good running into you, Cliff! Hopefully we'll cross paths again this winter.

I may make it over to Elysian, Francis, or Tetonka this Saturday. Depends what I find on the Mississippi tomorrow afternoon. From what I have heard the ice on the backwaters around Winona and La Crosse may actually be in better shape than that around Waseca and Faribault, which is kind of odd for early ice. Usually the south-central MN lakes freeze up just a bit quicker.

I'd be surprised if there were much good ice on Bartlett this weekend--that deep water with a bit of current takes a while to freeze--but I may go out and take a look anyway tomorrow when I am up in the area getting my first ice fix of the year in. Anyone got any early ice reports for the Mississippi backwaters around Winona and Lacrosse? I'll be adding mine tomorrow night.
