Any suggestions for lakes close to Superior Wisc to try in Wisc?

7 posts in this topic

I visit the Duluth and Superior area every couple of weeks, asked about MN, now asking about the Wisc area if there are any good lakes to try close to Superior for panfish, walleye? I'd appreciate any help or tips. Thanks, Jeff

If your looking for less crowded waters and are willing to travel a bit there are alot of good little lakes in the Iron River & Drummond area.

I have a cabin on Nebagamon, lots of great topwater action out there with pike and smallies. Good crappies as well, walleyes I have caught have been kinda small, but there are hogs in there if you can figure them out.

It wouldn't hurt to try this post in the WI forum as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions! It gives me a start as I don't know nothing about this area and was looking for some suggestions to get me started.

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info everyone. And Borch that is good to know too.  I try to spend 2-3 hours looking on cedar each trip, but It's a lot of water to break down , and having only been out hardwater cattin 6 times so far I still have a lot to learn.  Generally I spend a lot of my 3 hours losing confidence and then wind up at the meth hole to catch a few .  Putting in the work is what makes it so fun once it all comes together though!
