Week on Winnie - What to Pack?

3 posts in this topic

I am trying to start a family tradition with my wife and two kids. We are staying at Bowen Lodge for a week in mid July. May son and I would be content to fish 12+ hours a day for the whole week. But if this is to be a long-standing family trip, I want to make sure my wife and daughter have a great time.

Any advice on what to pack for a week on Lake Winnie in July would be appreciated.

Also, are there any events or must see places of interest that you would recommend for a family with two young kids (7 and 9).

Thanks for your input!

You will enjoy your week at Bowens Bill and Gail are nice people, and they have a first class resort. For fishing you should have some lindy rigs and maybe some crank baits with leeches or crawlers being your bait. As far as events we have stuff going on all summer and the resort will have a better idea of that time of year whats up

I've stayed at Bowens a couple of times and thought it was great. I don't recall for sure but I think they had events going on more or less everyday, ie. bonfires, minnow races, etc. Nice place and nice people.

Not sure about events in the area, you're not very close to very much stuff at Bowens. But you should have a great trip.

When I left for work yesterday the lake had white caps on it. When I got back 10hrs later it was locked up. An hour after that the first idiot was broke through the landing. If we get the snow they are predicting for Saturday my guess is there will be sleds in the water this weekend. They do it every year.    Patients people.

I have never fished it in the winter. Do not know of anyone that has either. Should be good though! Cliff
