Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

steel leaders

Recommended Posts

Anyone. I usually cast for smallies but sometimes when we limit out or just for a change, we troll cranks or frogs or something for eyes/slimmers. Do most of you use a steel leader when trolling the wind swept shoreline or humps?

How about when vertical fishing?

I have not in the past, but last year lost a couple of larger northerns and a really nice eye and tend to think they cut the line with the teeth? (could have been nicks etc, so don't really know for sure)

Thanks

Bitz

I troll a lot of cranks for walleyes. I will almost always use a leader (usually titanium because they don't kink). I don't think they bother the 'eyes or the pike at all (but I'm also trolling pretty big cranks). The only time I take them off is at night or a few spots where there are usually just 'eyes and few pike. We put 6 'eyes over 10 lbs in the boat last year and every one was caught with a leader on. I never used to use them but I got tired of feeding $6 lures to all those big pike!

I'll second Ashbay's response. Now that they are making thin profiled leaders I typically will use one trolling cranks weather for walleye or northern. If it is a real tough bite that may change my mind though. Up here your talking about $10.00 gifts to the lake when you get sawed off by mr.toothy.

a six or nine inch titanium leader can sure make the day alot more fun, and much less expensive.

Just wondering if you have tried a product called Toothy Critter. It is a tieable metal leader and comes in different wieghts. We used it last year with positive results. The nice thing about it is that you can cut it to whatever length you want. It is a lot cheaper than buying leaders. Just a thought.

I just started using Surflon Micro Supreme 7x7 by American Fishing Wire. Probably similar to Tooth Critter. I like it better than leaders in terms of ease of use and visibility to fish. You can use it with snaps and swivels or direct from line to lure. According to their website it's available in quite a few weights and colors. I have 13 & 20 lb. camo. Price is around $10 for 5 meters.

well we finally got our home computer back so it sure is nice to be able to type again instead of using the phone.
The wind were wicked Monday night but by the looks of it this side of the lake held together so that's real good news.
Lonnie and his buddy braved the winds yesterday and headed out ,they managed to get 7 of there 8 but it was a tougher bite then last time they were here on Saturday.
This weekend is going to be crazy up here as I have had quite a few inquirers about lodging on shore. Buddy Hillmen may have something but he is tough to get a hold of as he is busy building that mammoth house.
We ran into a hiccup on blue thunder and have a part we can not get off to replace. I'm hoping Tom can come over and button it up. as Devon worked his butt off to get er done. You could see the disappointment in his eyes, Blue thunder is my work horse and I'm feeling the pressure of getting her up and running..
Our new used lake truck may show up sunday if all goes well. Its name is Cheyanne "I think that's spelled right. It blew a radiator in fargo and is arriving on a trailer .
Old Minnesota is the only house that I have not detailed as I also had some major work on her that was ignored while I was trying to break 80 at the golf course this summer. Every one have a great thanksgiving and if your coming up here make sure you check in the resort your going out of as they have been on the ice everyday

If I remember right you used to have to get a license a while ago before they changed it to the if you occupied it rule. I don't think 14.33 a year is going to break anyones bank. Hopefully they use the extra money for stocking purposes

Yeah looks like the 2nd weekend in December if we're lucky before you can ice fish this area. Going to be another late year on the ice.

It just never ends in this state.  Tax, tax, tax.  Where does this money go?  Whats next?   A tag for your vehicle to drive on the ice?

Fun for some folks that went exploring early ice from a few years ago.
