Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Will be camping at Scenic State park next week, was wondering on suggestions/ideas anyone would have for fishing Sandwick/Coon or any other close by lakes that I could get a 17 ft boat into? Thanks for your help!

I've never fished up there, but have heard there's some good fishing for decent sized panfish in both lakes. I'd imagine the bass fishing is good up there too. I think there maybe a special slot on northerns up there too? A majority of the lakes in that area are bass/panfish/northern lakes. If you go to the MN DNR website and click on Lake Finder, you should be able to figure out which lakes interest you. As far as the landing situations in that area, I'm not sure, but you shouldn't have too much trouble, if any with a 17' boat. There's also been posts on this forum and the Grand Rapids forum about the Scenic State Park area, so doing a search would help too. Good Luck and post your results. The Scenic State Park is less than an hour from my place and I've never been there, time to do a road trip with the family!

Don't forget the bug dope as the mosquitos are out in force!!!

My rod bag with 5 rods in it fell off my sled while walking out from the public access on Sat. afternoon.
I didn't notice until I had walked out to a spot and drilled some holes and started to get set up to fish.
By the time I walked back to shore the bag had been picked up.

Please let me know if you have any info.
      Thank you,

Got out Saturday afternoon and after putting in some time drilling holes finally found panfish in 20-24 ft, almost in the basin areas I'd look mid winter.  Crappie and sunfish were mixed and we caught almost all of our fish on a small jig and waxworm.  Tried minnows and only caught a couple fish that way, even when we were catching fish on waxworms in a hole 3 ft away.  They seemed to want something to chase so keeping the jig moving and pulling away from them helped quite a bit.  Had 10" of ice where we were fishing and was pretty consistent, but there's lots of reports of extremely varying ice thickness so keep checking ice thickness on your way out.

WARNING a buddy was on  MELISSA and was aiming towards the crappie hole in the NE Corner/First break to fish out there last night.  He was checking ice and was having 10" of ice then hit 3"!  Please be careful out there.  Needless to say he turned around and went back to the access.

I will second what Icehawk said.... some good lakes around you. Briggs chain is close, some very nice fish in that system. I tend to fish fairly shallow(under 10ft) most of the time 6-8 right in or on the edge of the weeds for the gills.

Looking for some folks in the area. Have you guys ever fished Borden lake near Garrison? I fished Maple lake last week with a lot of small crappie caught.  I let them all go, biggest was 9". Fished few lakes in that area with no luck. Even went to my little honey home with little succes Looking take the GF out tomorrow morning.  Any ideas? Seen someone posted about crappie in Pearl.
