      Tango
Yes sorry been busy lately have been on 12 hour shifts everyday. We saw Tango this weekend. He is working on developing his nose. Planted some birds and he did great in his field finding the birds. ( used a 12g with blanks as well and did awesome ) He said he should be twice as good with his nose by next week. It was sure fun watching him get birdy. After that he did a couple retrieves in the water and some off leash walking man he just sticks to your hip. The rest of the time we just sat in the grass and enjoyed being with him! Next week we are going to do a lot more where we are in control we are going to focus more with my girlfriend because he never really listened to her to begin with haha. (she is afraid he still wont) But I know he will and Jeff reassured her he will sure.
He is all so going to go through drills and field work we should do at home to keep his training up. 2 more weeks left I am super pumped for him to come back home. Picking up a duck boat on Thursday as well that way the girlfriend can start hunting too. She was not too keen on the standing in the water with waders idea.   Its nothing special but it will get the job done!

Shore Fishing the Red River in Moorhead.
I'll be fishing the red river this weekend from Saturday until Sunday for giant channel kitties.  On the Minnesota side, where is the best public place to shorefish for one of these trophies?  Also, what bait tends to work the best if you're not using cut bait?  I'm looking for alternatives.  Thank you guys!

Good stuff Royce. I'm still waiting on my first sucker out of the river this season but I'm seeing cats similar to what you're seeing.  I wasn't too surprised but was really expecting suckers to start the season.  My bites are running about as frequent too.

      Kayak time
Had a bit of a tough time finding a place out of the wind today. After a little looking,  stumbed upon a small protected bay on a lake just South of town.  The fish in this lake are not exactly known for their large size..... still, it was out of the wind.  I was very surprised at the size of some of the bluegills I mannaged to catch. Got a few upto 9in. crappies were a little onthe small size, nothing over 10in....but still fun.  Gills were pretty much hugging the shoreline, while the crappies were holding over the tops of the weeds, 3-5 ft.

At that time of year the Walleye are typically in pretty shallow water.   Focus on areas of the lake that have 12 ft of water with drop offs into deeper water but also near weed lines (for normal lake levels).  Don't hesitate at all to fish in even shallower water very close to the pencil reeds or weed beds.  I would slow drift leeches using typical Lindy rigs or slip bobber as my presentation until I see that isn't working then switch to something else (jig and minnow etc).   Given the light winter they may be willing to take crawlers at that time too. I'd use a two hook crawler spinner rig and a bottom bouncer trolled really slowly (just fast enough to spin the blade).    Evening hours a leech on a slip bobber can be very productive right up to dark.  We've caught nice fish right up at the dock in the last hour of daylight from opener to late May but the water might get too warm too quickly for that to work this year.

      Question regarding 2 stroke oil
Thanks for all the input guys. Sounds to me like I better follow my first inclination and use the right oil. As PAPADARV said "oil is cheap, motors are expensive"   Thanks again Dan

I've heard side imaging is not really for use at high speed.
